The UNLV LIFE Program was started in 2017 by Solomon Feinstein. Inspired by his father, Dr. Benjamin Feinstein, and his work, Solomon decided to start a chapter of the LIFE Program his freshman year of college at the university he is currently attending; the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV).
Much like the original LIFE Program, hiking and enjoyment of nature remain core values instilled and practiced within the UNLV LIFE Program. UNLV LIFE organizes and attends hikes every weekend and retreats every month. Some marquee locations UNLV LIFE has been to include Death Valley, Zion, Grand Canyon, Bryce Canyon, Joshua Tree, The Colorado Rockies, The Wasatch Mountains, Los Angeles, Salt Lake City, Valley of Fire, Red Rock Canyon, and Mount Charleston. The UNLV LIFE Program boasts 40 active members.
The UNLV LIFE Program is quite similar to the original program, with a few collegiate twists. One of these collegiate twists is educational outreach and service to high school students. UNLV LIFE is partnered with the Clark County School District (CCSD), The LIFE Program, and the Nevada Association of International Baccalaureate World Schools (NAIBWS) and takes local high school students on guided hikes all around the Las Vegas area, educating them on the geology, climatology, biodiversity, history, and urban expansion of Southern Nevada. Additionally, the UNLV LIFE Program hosts yearly retreats with local IB high school students from all across Southern Nevada.
